Which side of the yellow line is defined as being behind?

It's NOT the same incident - one is reported as having happened at Blackfriars (the train/passenger swipe-by) while the tow-along was at Ealing Broadway.....I suspect that they aren't the same station nor event.

The BBC seems to have confused the two incidents. Two reports of (apparently) the same incident contain links to two different rail incidents !!  Good old Beeb .................

The stuck in doors reference might be from this:

Turns out that they were actually stuck in the doors, so not really related to the yellow line

Are you referring to the guy in the video? Not stuck in the doors at all - if you look at the very start, you can see fresh air between guy & train. He then wobbles towards the train, goes to lean on said train, and is spun around by the train's motion.

I can't remember the name of the TV Show now, but it was one of those science shows that looked into myths etc.

I think it was 'Mythbusters' - I was a great fan!

They used a dummy in a small pram and put it in various places along a platform, the tests showed that the rush from passing trains actually pushed people away from the moving train rather than sucking them in.

This person was just stupid enough to be perched on the platform edge

Beware! The video in this link shows contact between man & train at Blackfriars

From the BBC

[quoteGovia Thameslink Railway (GTR) has released CCTV footage of a man who was clipped by a train while he was waiting at London Blackfriars station as part of efforts to urge passengers to get home safely this festive period.

In the video (click the link above), the man gets too close to the train as it pulls into the station, then stumbles into it and gets knocked to the ground while it is still moving.

He suffered no injuries but GTR, the UK's biggest rail operator, has warned passengers to take extra care at its stations and especially to stay behind the yellow line while waiting at platforms.[/quote]
