From the BBC:
Loganair to axe Isle of Man-London City route

Loganair will instead run two return flights a day between the Isle of Man and Heathrow
Flights between the Isle of Man and London City Airport will come to an end next month.
Loganair will withdraw the route from 23 October following a review. From 26 October, the airline will increase its weekday London Heathrow service to two return flights per day. Loganair said the change was about aligning its services "with customer demand".
Loganair will run 11 return flights a week between the island and Heathrow. A Sunday evening service will continue, but the Saturday Heathrow flight will no longer operate.
A Loganair spokesperson said: "We understand this change may be disappointing for some customers and have contacted those affected directly with alternative flights to London Heathrow."
The airline said Heathrow would give passengers access to "domestic and international destinations through one of the world's leading hub airports".

I would love to know if this should be characterised as a reduction (which it clearly is for some) or a re-arrangement. How many flights from Ronaldsway go to London City, Heathrow and Gatwick each week on the current timetable, and how many will there be to Heathrow and to Gatwick in the new arrangement?
As a generality, I'm disappointed to see direct services lost. But yet where a service sprays out to multiple destinations which have connections between them, there is some argument for concentrating them all onto fewer routes rather than serving more badly. In this case, lost between the BBC's potential headline grabbing and the Loganair marketing wording, I don't know where the balance lies.
